Hi, I’m amber cornett.

I’m so pleased that you are considering partnering with me on your journey to thriving. I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker and Licensed Addiction’s Counselor in the state of Colorado. I earned a Master of Social Work (MSW) from Simmons University, with a focus on advanced clinical practice, child and adolescent wellness and substance use and misuse.

I have 18 years of experience working with youth and families. I began my career working with young people as a college volleyball coach and quickly realized my passion centered on developing the overall health and wellness of the student-athlete and not just their athletic prowess. I continued my career as a youth development and special education administrator, where it became evident to me that supporting a person’s mental health was fundamental to all human growth and thriving.

Since October of 2018 I have proudly and passionately worked as a mental health clinician in a variety of roles and settings including; inpatient and outpatient behavioral health, child and adolescent welfare, private practice and most recently as a school based mental health professional.

I am a school based mental health professional and coordinator for substance use prevention and intervention in Cherry Creek School District. As a mother of neurodivergent school age children, I am both personally and professionally familiar with school systems and special education programming and am happy to help families navigate the complexity of the special education system.

My clinical work is a collection of practices that prioritizes respect, collaboration and a non-pathologizing way to work with individuals, adolescents and families. This way of working is strength-based and is based on the theoretical foundations of Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), Motivational Interviewing (MI), Emotionally Focused Therapy (EFT), and various Somatic Therapies.

I am originally from South Carolina and have lived both overseas and multiple states thanks to the time my husband served in the Air Force. 6 years ago myself, my husband and three sons became Colorado residents after searching out school systems that could best meet the needs of our children. We adore living here and fill up our free time with friends, youth sports, outdoor fun and family adventures.

I feel grateful and privileged to be invited to support you and your family on your journey to wellness.

Shared Gratitude for Collaboration & Connection
